Sawyer began racing at age 6 in a go kart. At age 10 he began racing a bandolero at Orlando Speed World, Nashville and Rockford. At 14 he drove a Dodge Neon in a four cylinder class, moving into a Super Stock division at age 15. In 2010 He advanced to the high banked 1/2 mile at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna in the Limited Late Model division, winning the Championship in 2012. In 2014 he advanced into the premier Super Late Model division.
Sawyer has shown over the years to be a winning competitor in all divisions he has raced in.
Effertz Motor Sports is the only team to participate in the Cheesefest parade, and Hilbert 4th of july parade for the past 10 years.
